Cobbler Recipe
This is my favorite cobbler recipe,
It was given to by my sister in law.
It is important to mix the ingredients exactly as the recipe states!
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
You will need a crock or deep dish baking dish
Ingredients:
1 Cup Flour
1 Cup Sugar
2 Teaspoons of Baking Powder
dash salt
1 stick butter
(The flavor is greatly enhanced by using real butter, however, you can substitute margarine)
2/3 Cup Milk
1 1/2 Cup of fruit drained
1 teaspoon vanilla (optional)
Melt the stick of butter in your microwave or oven (Set aside)
In separate bowl, mix all of the dry ingredients
Gradually add the milk stirring constantly, I found using a whip or fork works best
Add the teaspoon of vanilla or other extract here if desired
Pour the contents into the crock with the melted butter,
This is an important step: Pour directly into the center of the crock
and allow the contents to spread. You should end up with melted butter around the outside.
*** Do Not Stir ***
Gradually pour the fruit into the mixture.
Bake for approximately 40 minutes
or until top is golden brown
Since we live on a farm I am fortunate to have many types of fruit to use in this recipe.
I have tried many variations and here are some of my families favorites
Peaches with vanilla extract (sometimes I add pecan slices)
Blueberries with vanilla extract
Mango oranges with lemon or orange extract and almonds
Strawberries with vanilla extract
Pineapple
Try adding your favorite nuts
You can also sprinkle a little sugar on the top just as you pull the cobbler from the oven
Serve Hot or Cold
Serve hot over ice cream
Enjoy! Vickie George
